EPTC has developed a process that completely manages wet organic animal manures and food residuals as valuable raw materials in a tightly-controlled, highly-accelerated conversion and recycling operation. It is the first system designed to keep pace with modern "factory" farms, yet is scalable and flexible enough to be cost-effective for small farms and co-ops.
EPTC is in the business of creating designer soils and energy from the most common and natural -- and plentiful! -- raw materials available. Manure from dairy, beef, hog and poultry producers, "leftovers" from large food product manufacturers and packagers, and other wet organic sources are separated and efficiently processed to gain reusable, non-toxic materials.
The Closed-loop Waste Management Process consists of four steps: a Separator , an Aerobic Bioreactor , an Anaerobic Digester , and a Dual-fuel engine that drives a Cogeneration Powersystem . Each step is optimized for wet organics waste management. A modular "steady state" system, the components can be located on-farm or on-site, in close proximity to the wastestream, or integrated into the barn or building "at the source."
The closed-loop system eliminates problems such as lagoons, storm runoff, odors, leachate, insect pests, vermin, and fire danger. The system is ideal for all weather conditions. EPTC expedites the waste conversion process and provides total management of the wastestream, with optional removal from the site.
Separator Benefits
Separating solids from liquids begins the process allowing the creation of two desirable products: custom-blended "designer" soils and electricity. The Separator is a high-volume, closed pumping system which is the first step in solids reduction and odor control. It also helps create a finer particle size in the finished soil product.
Aerobic Solids Bioreactor Benefits
The Bioreactor is an "aerobic" process, which means the solids are aerated and oxygenated. The EPTC system constantly monitors and controls oxygen, moisture and temperature throughout the process. An optimum temperature of about 150 degrees Fahrenheit can be quickly achieved and maintained. Controlling the process in a closed system achieves stable conversion in less than five days . The continuous flow design allows high throughput.
- Odors controlled early in the process
- Quick and continuous processing eliminates need to store toxic manures
- 33-percent reduction of solids mass
- Eliminates leachate problems
- Stable soil amendment (compost) can be safely stored
- Limited exhaust gases are converted to carbon dioxide through a biofilter
- A desirable, consistent, usable soil amendment results that...
- is stable
- has a earthy, pleasant aroma
- is rich in nutrients and organic matter
- is free of extent pathogens
- is free of weed seeds
- has optimum C/N ratio, moisture and oxygen content
- is pasteurized and homogenized
- is loose and aerated for reduced compaction
- is a very consistent end-product
- can be amended and custom-blended to customer specifications

| Anaerobic Liquids Digester Benefits
The Digester is an "anaerobic" process, meaning absence of oxygen, and is enhanced by enzymatic, microbial activity creating an optimal environment for methane production. EPTC's proprietary process suppresses the generation of corrosive and toxic hydrogen sulfide (H2S), reducing the formation of highly-corrosive sulfuric acid (H2SO4) in the Powersystem engine to undetectable levels.
- Multiple-tank process settles out suspended solids
- Heated and excited for maximum quantity/quality methane production
- Heavy metals filtered out
- Sediment periodically removed and processed in Aerobic Bioreactor mix
- Final tank clarifies water for reuse in flush system, washing or irrigation
Cogeneration Powersystem Benefits
- Runs on methane and diesel fuel simultaneously
- Continuously monitors methane quantity/quality and injects diesel to balance
- Electricity generated for facilities and equipment
- Patented system automatically synchronizes with utilities' generators without the need for expensive switching gear
Overall Benefits of the Complete System
- Elimination of the antiquated, problematic "lagoon" system
- Odors controlled in closed system
- Pest growth eliminated in closed system
- Permitting process much easier
- Workplace environment significantly improved
- Overall water usage greatly reduced
- Overall land use much more efficient
- Significant amount of land can be reclaimed for cash crops
