EPTC to Feature Agricultural Waste Treatment Technology
at World's Largest Farm Equipment Show
-

WEST LAKE VILLAGE, CA, February 2, 1999 -- Over 100,000 visitors, farmers, and agricultural buyers are expected to attend the 32nd Annual California Farm Equipment Show & International Exposition, where Environmental Products & Technologies Corporation will introduce its proprietary Bioreactor, the core of the company's Closed-loop Waste Management System for the amelioration of agricultural waste.

With over 2 million square feet of exhibit space on 160 acres in Tulare, California, the California Farm Equipment Show and International Exposition is the world's largest showcase of products, technology and equipment for the farm, dairy, and ranch industries. The show includes two Dairy Centers, developed especially to house dairy-related exhibitors. EPTC will be in exhibitor space DS-32.

EPTC's extraordinary commercial-scale Bioreactor, which can be installed on-site and sized to the volume of the waste stream, converts animal waste into a stable, mature end-product compost within 3 days, versus a process time of 90 to 120 days for typical systems. The EPTC system kills all pathogens and weed seeds, processes gases, and eliminates odors.

Additionally, EPTC's patented co-generation system converts methane gas derived from the waste stream into electricity, which can be used to offset a portion of a farm's electrical costs, with excess power being sold to the local grid.

America's agricultural waste problem is a major environmental dilemma. On March 6, 1998, The New York Times reported that more than 450,000 domestic livestock operations were out of compliance with federal environmental standards. And, in the face of industrialized animal raising, environmental standards, as imposed jointly by the U.S.

Department of Agriculture and the Environmental Protection Agency, are becoming even more stringent. Major concerns are centered upon nutrients, pathogens, nitrogen, phosphorus, ammonia, odors and the adverse environmental impacts of industrialized animal feeding operations. According to Marvin Mears, EPTC's president and chief executive officer, EPTC has identified approximately 1,000 large dairies (1,000 or more head) in the United States alone as a primary target for its products and services based upon the potential for immediate environmental impact and marketing economies of scale.

The problem of agricultural waste is urgent and widespread. In central California alone, the region's 1,600 dairies produce more waste than a city of 21 million people. "The Tulare show is a virtual 'Who's Who' of dairy farming and provides a perfect venue for EPTC's Closed-loop Waste Management System," said Mears. "EPTC has developed a rapid, cost-effective solution to an environmental problem that is beginning to take center stage, and we are exceptionally enthusiastic about the potential represented in our participation at Tulare," Mears said.

Environmental Products & Technologies Corporation is focused on solving environmental problems while enhancing the productivity of domestic farming and large livestock raising operations.
